Welcome to Stage Left Productions Stage Left Productions is a multidisciplinary performing arts company, working with marginalized people to foster social justice. We collaborate to forge intercultural solidarity against prejudice, discrimination, and oppression through a dynamic fusion of art, identity, and politics. We commission, produce and present authentic, unromanticized, and compelling representations of the individual, social, and systemic struggles that diverse people experience in society. Our social justice vision is to support marginalized community groups to use the arts as a vehicle for radical social change (with ‘radical’ here simply meaning that we attend to the roots causes of social injustice). Our artistic vision is to collaborate with other diverse Canadian artists on culturally-respectful creation, production, dissemination, and professional development programming. Our overall vision is to affect personal and social transformation through a unique mix of grassroots community engagement processes with professional artistic practices of high artistic merit and critical social challenge. We’re best known as Canada’s leading contributors to the global Disability Arts and Culture Movement, as a Centre for the Theatre of the Oppressed, for our excellence in Artist-Community Collaboration, and for our grassroots, artsbased community engagement initiatives, social change processes, and antioppressive practices. The foundation of all we do is a process of providing people renewed purpose through praxis: Reflection on the world in order to take action to transform it.
